The three races scheduled for today were run according to the plan. The results in general classification placed Steven Brewin (Australia) far ahead from the other competitors. Second and third place were taken by Polish competitors, Tymoteusz Bendyk and Jakub Surowiec. The next places were not a surprice as the competitors were in a lead in previous races – Dave Shaw (New Zealand), Darren Bundock (Australia) and Jacek Noetzel (Poland).
The scores in lead (with the exception of Brewin) are so close, with difference of 1-2 points, that the probability for change is very high, especially after discard, which can be made after the first race tomorrow. The competing is going to be really exciting.
It was noteworthy for today the optymism and persistance of Maciej Żarnowski, who had an accident and badly damaged catamaran yesterday but after fitting a new boat for race, at late night hours, he took part in today’s race and finished on the 7. place.
In the silver fleet the three best results belong to Tymoteusz Cierzan (Poland), Niklas Lange (Germany) and Antoine Riet (France)
In general, the conditions on the water were favorable to the sailors, who can take advantage of light wind. The wind was moderate, about 5-7 knots but with patches.
“The conditions were different, the wind was very variable, which could be noticed during the race. Already in the second race almost all the lead from last race dropped somewhere at the back. If you made just one mistake you had work on catching up till the very end” – said Tymoteusz Bendyk, the best Polish competitor after today’s race. “I am very glad of my result today but tomorrow is another day. If there are planned races for tomorrow, then one discard may bring a lot of changes. Well, one thing is certain – Steven Brewin from Australia has already won this regatta. “
